All Cameras Are Beautiful
All Cameras Are Beautiful is a ‘creative retort’ to the lack of action from Sussex Police after my house was burgled in 2023.
The police officers who were dispatched to my house to investigate the crime advised that due to the specific nature of the items which were taken - nothing of great value and all mostly related to film photography - that the person responsible for removing the items from my home was most likely someone in my life and known to me. However, the police then refused to follow-up or ask any potential suspects their whereabouts on the night of the incident and they spent less than 10 minutes going door-to-door looking for potential CCTV / door-cam footage of the burglary.
As of this time of writing I have been waiting over 18 months for the results of the fingerprints which were taken when the police came to my property.
Last year Sussex police figures revealed the unit(s) solved just 5% of reported burglaries.
Disappointed by the response, me and my good pal Isobela were high one afternoon when I asked her what you could swap the word ‘cats’ for in All Cats Are Beautiful and without missing a beat she said, ‘CAMERAS!’
All Cameras Are Beautiful. Perfect.
I asked my followers on my analogue photography Instagram account PolitzOnFilm what they thought the ugliest film camera they could think of was. I then asked artist and my very own baby momma Natalie Oxbury if she would illustrate the result - the Yashica Samurai - which she did, beautifully. My friend and colleague Antoine recommended screen-printers Vino Sangre who had previously made merch for his band. Finally in a lovely little full circle moment the promo shots featured an actual Yashica Samurai camera donated by a fellow Brighton film photographer and had Isobella modelling the tee.
Limited to just 20 pieces and screen-printed in black ink on a climate neutral, PETA UK approved Earth Positive EP19 Continental Clothing oversized heavy jersey in Stone Wash White for that pre-worn box-fit goodness.
Haus of Politz isn’t a brand. It’s an outlet, in every sense of the word.
